Obama Talks Mean Tweets on Jimmy Kimmel

Now that the debates are over, President Obama is having some fun with the presidential election and the tweets that have been written about his presidency.

On ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, President Obama appeared for the “Mean Tweets” segment. This is where a guest will read the mean tweets written about them and respond to the public. Obama, reported by Newsweek, got to read a tweet from one @realDonaldTrump. This was the second time in two years that Obama had appeared on the show for the segment.

Obama was already in the middle of a three-day trip from Nevada to California, where he was campaigning for Hillary Clinton and other Democratic nominees running for office, reports US News.

During his interview, Obama mentioned that when it is 3:00 am, he does not tweet about anyone that offends him, reports The Daily Beast.

There were some serious notes as well, where President Obama commented on the current election. However, the bulk of the fun was when he responded to mean tweets about him.

Firing Back @realDonaldTrump

There was one tweet from @realDonaldTrump that was the highlight of the show, reports The Daily Beast.

It read: “President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States!” This was a real tweet written by Donald Trump about the president.

Obama’s response was a sting toward Trump, which included “at least I will go down as a president.”

Defending Hillary Clinton

Kimmel asked Obama why he thought the American people were so untrustworthy of Hillary Clinton. He stated that he believes it is the fact that she has been in the public eye for so long, that there are ways people try to discount her or look for her weaknesses, reports US News.

Obama was even asked if he wished he was the one going against Trump, says The Daily Beast. However, Obama stated that he felt Clinton was doing fine in her race against the Republican nominee.

He did stress the fact that he worries about the country and how it will run if Trump were to win. He went on to state that there is a particular way a president must act and that he feels Trump does not have that character or ability to function in the way required of a president.

The president went on to discuss why he and the first lady were so passionate about campaigning for Hillary Clinton. Not only do they support her, says Newsweek, but they did not appreciate Trump questioning the integrity of the election as he has in this race for the White House.

Obama also stated that he did not appreciate how Trump degrades women, puts down Muslim Americans or insults people’s character.

There were plenty of stabs toward the Republican nominee, including using the words “rigged” in answers to Jimmy Kimmel’s questions, reports US News. Obama also cited plenty of concerns about the election and admitted to laughing at some of the atrocities seen at the latest debates from Trump.
